*Please note* As this is not a drop-off program, an adult caregiver must accompany their child to each class. Revive the Roots Forest Classroom, Smithfield, RI

Cost per child: $90

Play Roots is an 4-week, outdoor series for ages 2-6 where families explore how living things build, move, and create in nature. Each week focuses on a behavioral schema (a natural pattern of play) and a key skill that supports growth through joyful, nature-rich experiences.

Children will:

  • Explore open-ended play invitations rooted in nature.
  • Strengthen motor, social, and creative skills.
  • Build confidence, imagination, and connection to the natural world.

Adults will:

  • Model curiosity, teamwork, and mindfulness.
  • Learn about schemas and how to support child-led play.
  • Reconnect with community and nature through shared experience.

*Please note* As this is not a drop-off program, a parent or guardian must accompany their child to each class. Our program is designed to enrich both the adult’s and child’s appreciation for nature while fostering a sense of community rooted in caregiver-child relationships.

All adult caregivers are required to obtain a state background (BCI/CORI) check and submit this documentation to Northern Rhode Island Forest School prior to participating in the program. Learn more about BCI checks in Rhode Island here.
